Maryam Firuzi — In the Shadows of Silent Women

I come from a war-torn family, forced to leave their city during the Iraq–Iran war, and I was born amid conflict. I drove over 50,000 kilometres across Iran documenting women in interconnected communities.

The series explores the history of Iranian women's life, which is a combination of tradition and patriarchy, and at the same time, linguistic and cultural diversity. The featured works form the first chapter, Miss Irane, highlighting women who maintain ancestral identity while pursuing education and freedom despite restrictions, with some representing the final generations working directly with nature.
